Note Card Confessions Review
Everyone is familiar with the note card confessions that can be found all over social media sites like Facebook. These videos are usually heart-breaking, thought-provoking, or just kind of cute. They can have great purpose in the education, though! Check out this blog to learn more about how note card confessions can be used in the classroom.
When asked to create a math-related note card confession video, I knew immediately that I wanted Alan Turing to be the subject because I recently watched the 2014 movie, "The Imitation Game." This movie tells the story of Turing, the father of modern computation. The movie is rated PG-13 and not appropriate for a younger audience, but I would highly recommend it for mature viewers! It also features my two favorite actors, Kiera Knightly and Benedict Cumberbatch, in the leading roles! AND IT'S RELATED TO MATHEMATICS!!!! Sorry... I'll stop geeking out now. My video was filmed using the iPad front-facing camera. I edited it with iMovie, which is very easy to use. I cut the audio, added "Expression" by Helen Jane Long (one of my favorite songs), and made the video black and white. If I were to recreate my video, I would probably do a few things differently. My handwriting is not the greatest and I had trouble with papers sticking together. Next time, I would probably opt for a thicker paper and spend more time spacing the words on each note card. Another solution might be to use Keynote or Spark Video, which would be completely paperless. |
